Ascent Junior Racing West Michigan, based at Bittersweet Resort, introduces athletes ages 6–13 to ski racing in a supportive, fun, and competitive environment. With one of the state’s best snowmaking systems, a vibrant local race scene, and professional coaching, Bittersweet is the perfect place for young athletes to begin their ski racing journey.

Every program includes training, participation in Junior Development Team (JDT) races, and the Sunday Race Series.

Important Notes on Day Selection

  • Families will select their specific training day(s) at registration.

  • Selections are fixed for the season to protect coaching ratios and daily capacity.

  • Refunds are based on missed opportunities from your chosen day(s).

  • Ascent will make every effort to add bonus practices when possible, but full make-ups cannot be guaranteed.

Training Schedule & Capacity

  • Bittersweet Resort – Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday.

  • Total capacity limited to 50 athletes to ensure high-quality coaching and small-group attention.

Race Schedule

All Bittersweet Junior Ascent athletes compete in:

  • Local Junior Development Team (JDT) Races included. 

    • Extra $45 per day fee for: Schuss Races to help cover coaching expenses. 

  • Sunday Race Series* (No coaching expense +No Race Fees).

*Coaching Support and expenses for selected races. Additional races may require extra fees to help cover expenses. Race Fees and Lift Ticket not included. 

These provide athletes with meaningful competition and the chance to build confidence in a fun race environment.
